Burki, Shahid Javed

Javed is professional economist who has served as a Vice-President of the World Bank and as de facto Finance Minister of Pakistan on a caretaker basis. He has written extensively on economic development and on the political history of Pakistan. Burki is the author or editor of several books on Pakistan. Burki was educated at Rawalpindi's Presentation Convent and St Mary's Academy. Upon graduation he moved to Lahore to study double majors in Physics and Mathematics at Government College University, Lahore. He received his MSc in Physics from the Punjab University in 1959.

Burki, Abid Aman

Dr. Abid Aman Burki is a Professor of Economics at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He was also Director of the Centre for Management and Economic Research of LUMS from 2003 to 2010. Dr. Burki received his PhD in Economics from Kansas State University. Prior to his appointment at LUMS, he was on the economics faculty of Quaid-i-Azam University (1985-2002) most recently as Professor and Head of the Economics Department. He has also taught courses at Kansas State University. He serves on several high-level committees and taskforces of the government.
