(Director-General, Statistical Economic and Social Research Training Centre for Islamic Countries, Ankara, Turkey) Savas Alpay has been the Director-General at the Statistical Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) since 2006. Prior to that he taught at Bilkent University, where he was an Associate Professor. He has a Masters in Economics and received his Ph.D. in Economics in 1993 from the Johns Hopkins University.
