Abstract

The writer holds that economic development is concerned with the well-being of individuals in the temporal world and the well-being of individuals in the life after death. Muslims, it is believed, are to act in a way that keeps both of these well-being situations in mind. The author enters a discussion of production priorities. Economic expansion and the achievement of greater equity may be attained simultaneously--the method for this is discussed by the writer. Factor pricing, it is believed, is related to both the cost of making something and the desire for the good in the society relative to the quantity of the good available. The Zakah and Sadaqatal fitr are mentioned. How the wealth of a society comes to be gathered and put into use is discussed. The potential results of cooperation between Muslim states are addressed.
