Abstract

Provides overview of the current theoretical developments and practices in Islamic finance discussed at Loughborough University’s 4th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Banking held August 13-15, 2000. Concentrates specifically on reducing moral hazard in Islamic financial products by reconciling social norms with trading rules. Also analyzes incentive-compatible profit-sharing contracts and regulation of the stock market within the industry.
