This essays contained in this book outline the different aspects of Islamic economics and address the possibility of applying them to the present-day situation. This book contains an introductory chapter, which outlines an Islamic economy and has five parts. Part one is on consumption and contains two chapters on the theory of consumer behavior in the Islamic perspective and on the macro consumption function in an Islamic framework. The second part is on banking and finance and contains three chapters discussing an overview of the financial system of Islam, the comparative characteristics and economics of some modes of Islamic financing techniques, and the possibilities and economics of Islamic banking. Part three, devoted to production and investment, contains four chapters. The fourth part focuses on growth and development.
