Abstract
The work systematically presents development in an Islamic perspective and discusses the question of neoclassical, socialist, and traditional approaches' potential to achieve the sort of development that is sought out in Islam. Components of schemes for development drawn from Islamic ideology are presented. The question of why Muslim countries have not yet adopted such a scheme is dealt with. The work is designed as a developmental economics textbook.
