While focusing on the contemporary and critical issues in Islamic studies, this cluster also engages in cutting edge research pertaining to issues in the domain of global dialogue and social progress. It aims at redefining the epistemological framework of Islamic studies by integrating Islamic learning with the contemporary social sciences and consequently, challenge and provide alternatives to the existing narratives of the academy. The cluster attempts to address the social and psychological needs and challenges faced by Muslim societies in modernity, by proffering unique insights, novel solutions, and innovative research on Islamic studies, as it is broadly conceived. A cornerstone of research in the area of Dialogue is the collaboration with Qatari, as well as international organizations, to promote new vital discourses in inter-religious and civilizational dialogue. Most practically, it focuses on areas such as Disruptive Scholarly Epistemes, Islamic Ecotheology, contemporary Quranic Studies and Sufism and inter-religious and civilizational dialogue.
