The Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Thani Center for Muslim Contribution to Civilization was established in 1983 in order to provide non-Arabic speakers with access to scholarly works that underscore the contributions Muslims have made to human civilization. In 2010, the Center joined CIS.
The Center aims to translate a selection of the Great Books of Islamic Civilization into English and other major languages. The Center currently provides English translations of major works of Muslim scholars, spanning the period from the 1st to the 9th centuries A.H, (700 to 1500 AD), when Islamic civilization was at its peak, greatly influencing contemporary world civilizations and laying the foundations for the European Renaissance.
The series of translations of Great Books of Islamic Civilization (GBOIC) include all major areas of Islamic intellectual pursuits achieved during this period. They cover a wide range of subjects, such as law, theology, jurisprudence, history and politics, literature, medicine, astronomy, optics, and geography. These books are authoritative sources in their fields and constitute a whole library of informative and enlightening Islamic scholastic works. The series’ books are translated and reviewed by qualified scholars and experts in their respective fields

The Sirah of the Prophet and Civilization

We are living in a time where moral and ethical disintegration seems to be the norm, and there is a dire need to correct this situation or at least address it in a wise manner. This conference will highlight that the essential solution to this moral decay lies in turning back to the ways of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The event will bring together outstanding scholars to deliberate on how to reinstate the Prophetic role and his perennial teachings in the continuous process of reforming ourselves and our society in contemporary times.

Translation of Muḥāḍarāt-e Sīrat

Muhadarat-e-Sîrat is a series of 12 lengthy lectures delivered the Prof. Mahmud Ghazi (1950-2010), ex-President of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The lectures were delivered in the year 2006 at Islamic Research Institute, IIUI and each lecture was an hour and 45 minutes long. In 2007, it was published after careful transcription and since then has seen several prints. The total no. of pages in its original, dense print is 761.

Divorce in the Qatari Society and Wifaq's (Family Consulting Center) remedial role in 2015

Divorce has become an increasingly threatening phenomenon in the Qatarī society. It reached a towering 56.2% in 2014 and is thus the cause for sustained alarm and worry owing to its dreadful impact on individuals, families and hence the society itself. Moreover, this alarming rise stands in glaring contrast to the goals set by Qatar's National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
