Master of Arts in Contemporary Islamic Studies

Dr. Dheen is a Professor of Comparative Religion at CIS, HBKU. Prior to joining CIS in 2013, he was an Associate Professor and then a Professor at Qatar University. He has earlier worked in academia in Sri Lanka, Egypt and Pakistan. He received his Ph.D. (1988), MA (1982), and BA (1978) from the Department of Theology and Philosophy at Al-Azhar University, Egypt.

Dr. Dheen is an author of several books and has contributed book chapters and published articles in the international journals of repute.

Emad El-Din Shahin is the Dean of the College of Islamic Studies (CIS), HBKU. Before joining CIS, he was a visiting professor of Political Science at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and the editor-in-chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of 

Dr. Gavin Picken is Professor of Islamic Studies at the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). Prior to joining HBKU, Dr. Picken taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies, the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge and the American University of Sharjah.

Dr. Ibrahim M. Zain is currently Professor of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religion at the College of Islamic Studies. Al-Mannai is the Director of the Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Thani Center for Contribution to Civilization (CMCC) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. She is also a member of the Arab Parliament, the Shura Council (Qatar) and League of Arab States.
