Abstract

The author's work is concerned with the Islamic banking system in general, with particular attention paid to the events in Iran associated with that country's Islamisation process. The first of the book's four chapters looks at the Islamic banking system's theoretical and practical qualities. A discussion of Riba and interest impermissibility is included in this part, as are sections on Mudarabah, Murabaha, and other Islamic financial practices. The second chapter of the book looks specifically at certain developments concerning Western banking in Iran from 1906 to 1978. One section of this part is devoted to American banks. The third chapter presents legal statutes adopted by Iran in its Islamisation process from 1979 to 1983. The last chapter serves as the work's conclusion and contains an excerpt of Ayatollah Khomeini's Fatawa and a list of Islamic financial institutions, as well as other information.
