Abstract

The work is the first reference book devoted to the field of Islamic banking and finance. It is divided into three parts, the first of which deals with a general introduction of the Islamic banking industry. The author principally discusses theoretical matters, but the International Association of Islamic Banks, Dar al-Maal al-Islaami, and the Islamic Development Bank are each addressed as well. It is in the second part of the volume that the actual directory of Islamic financial institutions is presented. A brief introduction precedes the index itself. The work's third part is comprised of analysis of actual events in Islamisation and legal statues governing Islamic banks. The countries of Iran and Pakistan are both looked at in distinct sections. Appendices look at Malaysian and Turkish Islamic banking regulations.
