Abstract

Although it is still small in comparison with conventional finance, Islamic finance is a burgeoning field, growing 15-20% annually. Islamic finance appeals to many people, Muslim and non-Muslim, because of its ethical principles and strong corporate governance. Conventional financial products, such as mortgages and leases, work by allocating risk to one party. Islamic finance offers more just alternatives, where risks and profits are shared.
