The author discusses difficulties encountered by Islamic banks, drawing a bit from actual instances involving the Faisal Islamic Bank Sudan. The author devoted special attention to difficulties related to switching from short- to longer-term investments. The author holds that the problems he discusses are applicabe only to Islamic institutions. Suggestions are made as to how the problems of Islamic banking might be dealt with.
