Abstract

The work is the third part in a three-part compilation of works born out of the 1993 International Institute of Labour Studies. The works within this volume are seven in number and are contributed by deven distinct authors. One paper, by Hamid Tabatabai, looks at poverty and wealth disparities. Tabatabai's focus is on the countries of the less-developed world. A piece by Ruzwanul Islam is concerned with rural institutions. He looks in particular at Asia. Vali Jamal's topic is one dealing with African poverty and unemployment. A paper by Nora Listig looks at Latin American poverty and wealth disparity. Peter Townsend's contribution is concerned with Eastern Europe. A paper by Ricardo Infante deals with labor and other issues. Rolph van der Hoeven deals with policy issues. All of the included works relate to changes in macroeconomic policy and structures and how these changes influence poverty reduction.
