Abstract

Compilation of fourteen articles discusses the theory, principles, and practices underlying the Islamic banking sector. The four main sections explore the concepts of usury, interest rates, financial contracting for funding enterprises, mortgages, leasing, regulatory and governance issues, and the practice and operation of Islamic financial institutions via three case studies. The final chapter presents the steps that are being taken to provide professional accreditation to Islamic banking professional personnel, and training requirements. Contributors include: I.
