Abstract
The book first offers an introduction to Islamic finance, tracing its historical development to the present day. The main focus of the book is a critical analysis of the viability and potential for Islamic finance to exist within the global economy. The cases of specific countries such as Pakistan, Iran, Sudan, Malaysia, and Bahrain are considered. Also discussed are strategic, managerial, cultural, and regulatory issues, with an emphasis to their relevance to global economics. Political and religious themes are also woven into the greater overall discussion of Islamic finance on a global scale.
