Abstract

The author discusses profit and loss-sharing (PLS) and mark-up principles of Islamic financing, and provides explanations to the inflated use of mark-up at the expense of PLS in the operations of Islamic banks. Furthermore, the author aims to explore the ways and means to increase the Islamic banks’ supply of funds on PLS basis.
