The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) cordially invites you to present your ideas on how the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ can be a venue to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Held as an online competition, this event is an excellent opportunity for sports enthusiasts who are passionate about making a difference in the world around them through the SDGs. Participants are encouraged to explore how the SGDs can help achieve sustainable societies and economies while also protecting the ecosystem. 

CILE Virtual Summer School - Ethics & Sports

In collaboration with Leuven University (Belgium) and the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH, Qatar), the 2022 CILE Summer Program will focus on questions pertaining to the key ethical issues related to the field of Sport Studies. Sport and physical activities are compulsory or strongly encouraged in most countries throughout childhood schooling. As an academic field of study, the philosophy of sport has only been developed since the 1970s. Recent controversies in professional sport have sparked a wide-ranging interest in sports ethics.

Minorities and the Escalation of Hate Speech in the West: Causes and Solutions

The last four years have witnessed an escalation of hate speech and violent acts against religious and ethnic minorities in the West. Among the leading causes are ignorance about the other, the dissolution of social and political bonds, rabid nationalism, white supremacy, and political leaders, who through their popular discourse, encouraged the “othering” of religious and ethnic minorities.
