The last four years have witnessed an escalation of hate speech and violent acts against religious and ethnic minorities in the West. Among the leading causes are ignorance about the other, the dissolution of social and political bonds, rabid nationalism, white supremacy, and political leaders, who through their popular discourse, encouraged the “othering” of religious and ethnic minorities.
This roundtable discussion is composed of two panels, the first of which will look at the discourse of hate and its impact on minority communities. The second panel will explore various creative solutions with an emphasis on interfaith action.
