Nexus of Green Finance and Islamic Finance (CIS-QFC Workshop)

This workshop aims to explore the potential of green finance in Qatar and its role in achieving the country’s climate change mitigation and adaptation goals. The main objective is to assist policy makers as well as key private sector actors in identifying alternative and innovative approaches of raising financing for green projects and therefore unlocking climate finance. 

The Life of Sultan al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh, His Mosque and Unique Inscriptions

This lecture will discuss the exciting life and career of the Mamluk Sultan al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh, who ruled over Egypt and Bilad al-Sham, in the early 15th century. He had an active role during the reigns of his predecessors before eventually taking over the throne.  

Sultan al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh built a magnificent religious and funerary complex behind Bab Zuwayla, the south gate of Cairo. The lecture will discuss its architecture, decoration, and the unique inscriptions of its qibla wall.

Migration Rights and Islamic Ethics

CILE at CIS invites to attend a public lecture on 'Migration Rights and Islamic Ethics'. Speakers will present their talks and reflect lights on the ethical imperatives of Shariah in response to this global crisis of internally displaced people and international refugees. The lecture will also brief on the Islamic legal framework providing protection to refugees, and discuss the rights and duties of refugees under Islamic law.

Intellectual, Cultural and Social Aspects of COVID-19

This online seminar aims to investigate the COVID-19 crisis and its ramifications through studying the intellectual, cultural and social impacts of this crisis on individuals, the community, Islamic nations, and humanity as a whole. The seminar will suggest solutions for addressing such impacts in light of Shari’a objectives.

Webinar on the Coronavirus: Interplay between Medical and Islamic Ethics

The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), in collaboration with the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), is hosting an interactive, live webinar titled: “Coronavirus: the interplay of medical and Islamic ethics.” Members of the expert panel will discuss the circulating myths around the COVID-19 coronavirus and outline the most scientifically reliable preventative measures. The webinar will also explore ethical issues from an Islamic perspective, in an attempt to provide some guidance in response to the current epidemic.
