Al Faruqi's Methodology of Studying Religion and Its Applicability: A Case Study of the Akan Religion

This thesis focuses on Al Faruqi’s method on the study of religious phenomena which has been developed in his book entitled “Christian Ethics”. The prime objective is to apply his method on the study of African Traditional Religion. It exposed and examined the usefulness of Al Faruqi’s methods of studying religion, specifically, the principles of disengagement; theoretical principles, and meta-religion, in relation to the Akan religion in Ghana. Information’s about the Akan religion in this study however was based primarily on a set of texts published in the 21st c.

Reforming the Methodology of Product Development in Islamic Finance

It is commonly observed that the current methodology of product development in Islamic finance has failed to reflect the productive nature of Islamic economics. This is evidenced by a number of current products being substantially indistinguishable from their conventional counterparts according to the commonly-held views.

Omneya is a Professor and Coordinator of Islamic Finance Ph.D. program at the College of Islamic Studies. She is the founding Director of the Ethical Finance Research Center at Durham University, U.K., and a Fellow of UK Higher Education Academy. Prior to joining CIS, she was Professor of Accounting and Islamic Finance at Durham University since 2014. She was previously the director of the El Shaarani Centre for Islamic Business & Finance (EIBF) at Aston University since January 2010.
