Omneya is a Professor and Coordinator of Islamic Finance Ph.D. program at the College of Islamic Studies. She is the founding Director of the Ethical Finance Research Center at Durham University, U.K., and a Fellow of UK Higher Education Academy. Prior to joining CIS, she was Professor of Accounting and Islamic Finance at Durham University since 2014. She was previously the director of the El Shaarani Centre for Islamic Business & Finance (EIBF) at Aston University since January 2010. She previously worked at the Universities of Heriot-Watt (UK), American University of Sharjah (UAE) and Mansoura (Egypt). She holds degrees from the Universities of Heriot-Watt and Mansoura. 

Dr. Omneya published in top academic journals such as Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organisation, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of International Accounting Research. Many of her research papers are ranked by Science Direct from the top 25 downloaded. She is a member of the editorial board and ad-hoc reviewer of various academic journals and international conferences. Omneya taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in International Accounting, Management Accounting and Islamic Accounting & finance. She successfully supervised numerous MSc. & MBA dissertations. She has supervised four Ph.D. students up to successful completion. Omneya was awarded “The Aston University Excellence in Teaching” Award in 2005 and the “Aston Business School Award for Innovation & Inspiration” in 2009.
