This book is a compilation of the papers presented at the International Seminar on Islamic Economics which was held at the International Islamic University, July 1987. The theme of the seminar was 'Islamic Economic Thought: Current Issues and Challenges.' Each paper is first briefly summarized in part one. Part two contains the papers, and all the addresses delivered during the seminar are in part three.

The book discusses and analyzes an area of contemporary Islamic economics and finance that is relatively under-written, i.e. Islamic economics education. The book provides a conceptual introduction by experts in Islamic thoughts and education on the urgent need for curriculum reforms in university education that is represented by integration between Islamic heritage and modern disciplines. There are 15 chapters written by experts on different aspects of Islamic economics and finance education.

The book is a blueprint laid out by the International Institute of Islamic Economics in Islamabad for the strategic elimination of riba and the development of alternative modes of Islamic financing in Pakistan. It is divided into nine chapters.
