This workshop concerns the primary sources associated with Sufi studies and will be conducted by Dr. Gavin Picken, with contributions from CIS alumnus, Osman Qazi. This is the first in a series of workshops that aims to provide an opportunity to engage with a variety of primary sources associated with the discipline of Islamic studies broadly conceived.

Mexican artist Ms. Ricardo Hinojosa engaged participants in a series of geometric paper-folding exercises meant to develop their creative and technical skills. Over the course of three sessions, participants explored a variety of Islamic patterns brought to life by a series of alternating folds.
British artists Ms. Adam Williamson taught members how to draw the sublime 16-fold rosette carved into the walls of the Court of Lions in Alhambra Palace, Granada Spain, using a compass.
