Abstract

Although technology advances are at a breakneck pace, so are the modes of investing. Increasingly, customers are more and more looking to find different technological platforms to invest in. In recent years, research shows that robo-advisory firms have been a disruptive introduction for may traditional wealth management firms. That being said, the structure of this thesis can be split into two central bodies. The first section (Chapter 2) is a bibliometric review of the of the robo-advisory field, providing great insight into the growth and development of robo-advisory field and its extensive literature. Also, in this section is a short study on people's level of interest related to robo-advisory like Insights from Google search trends in USA, UK, and Malaysia. Developing into the second half the study (Chapter 3), the central purpose of the study is to examine the challenges and opportunities posed to Islamic robo-advisory, mainly through a thorough case-study analysis on Wahed Invest. Data were collected primarily relies on various robo-advisory websites. There is not a lot of publicly accessible knowledge regarding robo-advisors since the field is a relatively young subsector in the global finance scene. The bulk of the research focused on Wahed Invest, the leading Islamic robo-advisory platform in the market. The conclusions are drawn from this study mainly affirmed previous studies and highlighted the opportunities and developments robo-advisory sector. More specifically, the excellent prospects are discussed for Islamic robo-advisors to take advantage of.
