Umar Farooq is a multifaceted finance professional with over a decade’s experience in academics and corporate world in India. Before joining CIS as a Research Fellow in the Research Division, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Rizvi Institute of Management Studies and Research, where he taught courses in the domain of finance. Prior to joining Rizvi, Umar Farooq worked with the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) as an Industry Analyst, where he tracked and prepared a monthly report of the petrochemicals industry.
Umar Farooq also donned the hat of a trainer and undertook workshops in management and finance for both finance and non-finance professionals of corporate India. He also worked as a consultant both in India and overseas. He is a keen researcher, has contributed chapters in books, published journal articles, and maintains a personal blog (https://health-of-the-nation.blogspot.com). Academically, Umar Farooq holds an MBA in Finance and is pursuing his PhD on a Mutual Model of Health Insurance from the University of Mumbai.
