Abstract
Most of the districts in the current Arabic-Islamic Cities have lost their traditional architectural identity and Islamic values which had an impact on culture, values, and behavior of its inhabitants. The purpose of this study is to identify the architectural elements of the traditional Qatari districts and the Islamic values that shaped the Islamic cities to conclude with a new visionary design that contains both Qatari and Islamic values. Moreover, the study clarifies the reasons that led to the current urban and architectural design by investigating the Qatari building codes and the aspiration of the current generation. A literature review was done to identify the dimensions of Islamic cities, whereas surveys and interviews took place to identify the problem of the Qatari districts. The study presents a visionary design that contains the missing Qatari and Islamic values in both the district and the building in a contemporary context.
