Abstract
Waqf is a centuries old establishment in the Muslim world but Waqf administration is faced with many challenges across the globe. Developing an adequate Waqf management system requires Waqf administrator or trustees to have proper documentation and systematic database, good structural administration and clear and consistent procedures about the registration, land management of Waqf properties. Waqf can be an important instrument in the socioeconomic development of the Muslim society if it is properly mobilized and managed. Among the critical success factors for this to happen are the existence of a strong legal framework, good governance, management and administration; and a significant increase in the awareness and participation of the society. This paper will look at good waqf management practices among Muslim countries which would help other waqf institutions to manage their waqf properties effectively.
