Who Speaks For Islam: The Modern Muslim Mind And Quest For A Brighter Future

Submitted by siteadmin on Tue, 11/05/2019 - 10:06

Muslims today are challenged by extremism on one hand and atheism on the other.  They often find themselves portrayed in a negative light by the media,  and as a result are plagued by persecution.. How does this impact the lives of young Muslims?

This lecture will examine the impact  for one group as a case study: American Muslims. It will draw upon years of survey research, media studies, and qualitative observations to paint a portrait of the modern Muslim mind and how to move forward to a brighter future.

The Speaker, Mrs. Dalia Mogahed, is an American scholar of Egyptian origin. She is the Director of Research at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) in Washington, D.C. She is also President and CEO of Mogahed Consulting, a Washington, D.C.-based executive coaching and consulting firm specializing in Muslim societies and the Middle East. Mogahed is former Executive Director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies. She was selected as an advisor to former U.S. President Barack Obama in the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
