This lecture presents the notions of law, justice, and development discussed in contemporary literature in light of Ibn Khaldun’s circle of justice and development.
Ibn Khaldun argued that the nature of laws enacted by the state governs the status of justice, which in turn determines development. Using the propositions derived from Ibn Khaldun’s circle of justice and development, the lecture will examine the current practice of Islamic finance.
