Abstract

The foundation of Islamic economics is explored in this thesis. Rational behavior in Muslim society is explored and principles of Islamic jurisprudence is analyzed. The basic philosophies and religious concepts of Islamic law and economic principles--all within the framework of rational behavior--are closely scrutinized. The author contends that such behavior plays an integral role in Islamic analysis of rational or irrational activities vis a vis Western economic principles. Detailed economic principles and analysis are employed by the author to explain his understanding.
