Abstract

Attempts have been made to implement a comprehensively Islamic economic policy in Pakistan in accordance to Shari'a. A fundamental tenet of any such policy would be Zakat, which can be thought of as surplus tax. The principle behind such a tax is the establishment of socio-economic equity, and is concept that has been iterated countless times in the Quran.
