Financing and investment in Awqaf projects; a non-technical introduction

A waqf is a charitable endowment; awqaf have been a part of Muslim economies through the centuries. These awqaf act to fund numerous projects and institutions that benefit society at large. Historically, awqaf funds have been applied to mosques, educational institutions, poverty relief, and other such efforts. Within Islam, establishing and furthering Awqaf are seen as worthy and righteous deeds.
