Abstract

A survey conducted on the viability of Islamic banking in the U.S. collated the opinions of Muslim bankers, U.S. bankers familiar with Islamic banking, and U.S. bankers unfamiliar with Islamic banking. The three groups thought that at least ten of twenty Islamic banking and finance practices were acceptable in the U.S. They recommended that Islamic banks and finance companies export U.S. technology to Muslim countries in order to implement Islamic banking and finance in the U.S. They also expressed the need for research regarding management and marketing in order to implement Islamic operations. There is also a need for research regarding Islamic practices dealing with debt, socio-economic justice, and development in order to help solve these international problems.
