Abstract

Ibn Taimeyah was both a scholar of Islam and an individual who fought for Islam in armed conflict. He was a 'radical scholar' who tried to liven up the thinking of his time, he was a social and political reformer; and he was a soldier in conflict with the Mongols. His economic thought can be seen in his books: _Al-Hisba_, which addresses market freedom, and _Politics According to Islam_. Drawing on the Qur'an and the sunna, Ibn Taimeyah of the 'market supervisor' and its limitations. One of his terms was the 'price of the equivalent' -- the price dominant in the market. Ibn Taimeyah's thought is better comprehended with an understanding of the influential ideas exposed to him, such as Islam's sense of individual responsibility and the established convention of economic freedom in his time.
