Abstract

In the Islamic economic system, both material gain and spiritual growth are understood to be components of human well-being. Within this system, the efficient use of economic resources and the fair distribution of wealth are equally important. Islam stands against the Western idea that church and state ought to function in separate and distinct spheres. Islam contains a substantial and well-defined political system, and an Islamic government has a role in enacting regulations on spiritual life. In fact, the Islamic state serves as a moral and legal force to imbue society with wholesome values. The government is encouraged to work toward setting up a legal, social, and political culture in which individuals can thrive both materially and spiritually.
