Clerk, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; Baltimore, Md. Mohammad Fadel is currently a clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Baltimore, Md. He was previously a clerk at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. Fadel earned both his B.A. in Government and Foreign Affairs and his J.D. from the University of Virginia. He obtained a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, where he specialized in medieval Islamic law. Fadel has published several papers on topics within Islamic law in academic journals. He taught at several American universities prior to entering law school, has worked at several private law firms in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and New York, and had a stint in the United States Department of Justice.
