Prior to that he was Legal Counsel and coordinator of Shari’a board at the ABC Islamic Bank in Bahrain. He had also held several other legal positions in several organization’s. He also worked as Assistant Professor of Law, University of Garyounis Faculty of Law, 1993-1995; and Chairman of the Department of Legal Studies, Omar Mukhtar University Faculty of Economics-Derna, Libya, 1992-1993; Lecturer in Law, University of Garyounis Faculty of Law, 1990-1992. Deputy Head of the Office of the District Attorney, Derna, Libya, 1989-90. He received his Ph.D. Indiana University- Bloomington, Indiana, USA, 1989 and Master of Laws: Indiana University – Bloomington, Indiana, USA, 1980.
