Secretary General, Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI); Bahrain Mohamad N. Alchaar is currently the Secretary-General of The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) which is an international organization consisting of over 120 members from 24 countries. Alchaar has a vast working experience in financial markets and institutions, in addition to his central banking directorship experience in developing countries. He was Director of Market Performance Analysis at Fannie Mae, and previously Vice President at Johnson & Higgins in Washington D.C. Alchaar has also taught for several years at The George Washington University, where he received his Ph.D. Degree in Monetary Economics. He also advised and trained the staff of Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Market. He has also published several well-recognized books in the field of banking and financial markets, such as “Financial Marketsâ€, “Economic Inquiriesâ€, both best sellers, and “Fundamentals of Banking Operationsâ€, in addition to other scientific articles in the field of monetary policy and exchange rates analysis.
