(Masters Candidate, Fletcher School, Tufts University; Medford, MA) Martin is a Masters candidate at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where she is focusing on the role of technology and monitoring and evaluation in increasing the effectiveness of development aid. After planning M-Banking 2009 in Nairobi, Kenya, she has been working as a monitoring and evaluation intern at Twaweza, a Tanzanian-based non-profit that seeks to enable people in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to improve their quality of life through a bold citizen-centered approach to development and public accountability. As an intern, she has explored how Twaweza can use mobile technology to more effectively monitor and implement their program. Prior to The Fletcher School, Martin worked in international corporate law at Weil, Gotshal, and Manges in New York City. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006 with a degree in international relations, and spent four months studying foreign policy and sustainable development in Geneva, Switzerland.
