Oloyede, Is-Haq Olanrewaju

(Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Nigeria) Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede obtained his B.A. in Arabic Language with First Class Honors in 1981 from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. In 1991, he obtained his Doctorate degree in Islamic Studies from the same University. In 1982 he began to work at University of Ilorin as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Religions and become a Professor of Islamic Studies in 1995. Before his present appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the University in October 2007, he was the Director of the Academic Planning Unit of the University from 2001 to 2003, the Academic Deputy Vice-Chancellor from 2003 to 2005, and Administrative Deputy Vice-Chancellor from 2005 to 2007. At the national level, Oloyede was appointed as Co-Secretary of the National Political Reform Conference in 2005 by President Olusegun Obasanjo, and in 2006, he was appointed a Consultant on Education Reforms in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission. Currently, Oloyede is the Executive Secretary of National Inter-Religious Council. At present, he is a Board Member of the International Association of Universities and a Consulting Editor of the American Biographical Institute. He is the first alumnus to occupy the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin; and first Nigerian to be President of the Association of African Universities. He has authored and co-authored several books and articles in reputable local and international journals.
