Kayed is currently the head of the Business Administration and Marketing Departments at the Arab American University in Palestine. Kayed received both his undergraduate degree as well as his MBA degree from Jacksonville State University and obtained his PhD in Development Studies from Massey University in New Zealand. His doctoral thesis explored the entrepreneurial phenomenon from an Islamic perspective and argued for profit and loss sharing (PLS) contracts as viable alternatives to conventional interest-based financing instruments. Kayed is the co-author of Islamic Entrepreneurship (Routledge UK, 2011) and Islamic Banking and Finance: Principles and Practice (Pearson, forthcoming in 2012). He has published many papers in peer-reviewed international academic journals and a number of chapters in edited books. He has also participated in several seminars, forums, and workshops and has presented various academic and research papers at high profile international conferences. Kayed’s research activities are currently focused on exploring the developmental role that entrepreneurship could play in advancing the well-being of individuals, communities and nations at large. Kayed has over 25 years of work experience both in the commercial and the academic world in the USA, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine.
