(Vice President, Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) Abdul Aziz Al-Hinai was appointed as the Vice President Finance of the Jeddah based Islamic Development Bank in August 2008. IDB’s primary objective is to foster the economic development and social progress of member countries. As Vice President of Finance, Al-Hinai led the organizational reform of the Finance Complex, orchestrated a resource mobilization strategy for the Bank which taps into international financial markets (sukuk), sovereign wealth funds as well as private equity. He is spearheading efforts to bring Islamic microfinance to the forefront of IDB’s developmental agenda. Prior to joining IDB, he held many senior executive positions in Oman of which the most recent were Advisor to the Board of Directors and General Manager of Oman Development Bank. Al-Hinai received his PhD in Economics and Public Policy from Claremont Graduate University in California.
