(Professor and Chair, Center for Public Policy, Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur, India) Islam is the Chair, Center for Public Policy & Government at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kashipur - a premier management school set up by the Government of India. He is the Program Director for a Management Development Program on Islamic Banking & Finance launched for the first time in any IIM in India. He has been working in the area of Development, Minority Rights, Educational Reforms and grassroots innovation for last two decades in Asia and Africa. Besides teaching at various universities across the continents, he has also worked with various UN agencies like UNECA, UNESCAP, UNESCO, African Development Bank. During 2007-2012, he served as the Chairman and CEO of the South Asia Development Gateway under Development Gateway (USA). Islam did his MA from Aligarh Muslim University, India and LLM from University of Strathclyde (UK). He also did B.Ed and PhD on Instructional Technologies and later completed Post-Doctorate studies at AIT, Bangkok. Dr Islam’s past creative activities include 2 books, 2 edited volumes, poems in English, and frequent TV appearance including BBC World (2006). He has recently edited a resource book on Gender, Law and Minority issues funded by the British High Commission (India) and Action Aid.
