(Secretary-General, Islamic Financial Services Board, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Jaseem Ahmed assumed The Position of the Secretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) On 1st May 2011. He is an international public servant with more than 25 years of experience in public governance, financial sector and social security reforms. Prior to his appointment to the IFSB, . Ahmed served as the director, financial sector, public management and trade, Southeast Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In this capacity, he was responsible for managing the ADB's lending, technical assistance, and capacity building operations in Southeast Asia for the promotion of sound banking and non-banking financial sectors, and for the strengthening of supervision and regulatory capacities. Ahmed led the ADB response to the global financial crisis in Southeast Asia through the design of a number of macroeconomic and financial sector stabilization reform programs, including an innovative “contingent†assistance program, to affected countries. Ahmed was also the ADB’s practice leader for Islamic finance. He is a member of several committees and group including one which resulted in the establishment of The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation. He is also a member of INCEIF governing board. His recent publication is Regional Economic Cooperation In South Asia. Ahmed received B.A, in economics from the University of Sussex, and a M.A. and M.Phil in economics both from Yale University.
