(Senior Consultant, Dar Al Istithmar, London, UK) Farook is the Senior Consultant for Structuring and Legal at Dar Al Istithmar. Prior to this, Farooq was the Research and Development Manager at the Center for Islamic Finance at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). Farooq earned his Doctorate (Islamic Finance), Bachelors of Laws (LLB), Business (B.Bus) with First Class Honours from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA). During his doctorate studies, he was also a Finance and Accounting lecturer at a number of prominent universities in Australia. Prior to undertaking his doctorate, Farook was employed by HSBC. His papers are widely published in peer-reviewed journals, industry reports and media and as chapters in edited books, while he is also invited to present his research and views at a number of Islamic Finance events. Farook serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research and is a Governance Standard consultant for the AAOIFI and delivers their CIPA qualification.
