Shakil, Mansoor

Director, HSBC Amanah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates Mansoor Shakil is director and head of the Central Shari‘a Group, HSBC Amanah, Dubai, where he is responsible for structuring, research, training, and compliance for HSBC Amanah’s global operations. He is extensively involved in product development, transaction management, and legal coordination. He completed his LL.M. at Harvard Law School, where he specialized in international financial systems. He holds another Master of Law (commercial law) from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor’s in Shari‘a and Law from International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He worked for a year in the corporate division of a premier law firm in Karachi, where he was involved in the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of banking, financial, and leasing transactions. He also handled the documentation for the first Islamic banking branch of a major commercial bank in Pakistan.
