(Visiting Professor, University of Reading, United Kingdom; Adjunct Professor, INCEIF, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Volker Nienhaus was professor of economics at the German universities of Trier and Bochum from 1989 to 2004. He was the president of the University of Marburg from 2004 to 2010. He holds an honorary pro­fessor­ship at the faculty of economics and business administration of the University of Bochum and has been a visiting professor at the University of Reading since 2010. He is an adjunct professor at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) in Kuala Lumpur where he has also been a member of the Governing Council since 2006. He was a consultant to the Islamic Financial Services Board from 2006 to 2010, was a visiting scholar at the University of Malaya under the Securities Commission Malaysia Islamic Capital Market Program in 2010 and 2011, and was a visiting professor at the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies in 2011. He has published numerous articles, essays, and books on Islamic economics and finance since the 1980s.
