Professor of Economics, University of Durham; Durham, United Kingdom Rodney Wilson is Professor of Economics in the University of Durham. He has worked for the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, and currently chairs the academic committee of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance in London. Wilson holds a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in economics from Queen’s University in Belfast, Ireland. His academic interests focus on the intersection of economics, political economy, and religion. Wilson is on the international editorial board of the journals Middle Eastern Studies and Islamic Economic Studies. He also referees papers for other several journals and for three publishers. Wilson has authored over 10 books, including several on Islamic and Middle Eastern economics and finance, approximately 40 refereed articles, over 30 contributions to edited volumes, several research monographs and papers, and 55 newspaper articles on Middle Eastern economic and business topics. His recent work includes Islamic Finance (1997) and Banking and Finance in the Middle East (1998) for Financial Times Publications, London. He co-edited a six-volume series on The Political Economy of the Middle East published by Edward Elgar, 1999, volume 3 of which is on Islamic economics.
