al-Harith al-Muhasibi and Spiritual Purification between Asceticism and Mysticism

This chapter sheds light on the contribution that al-Harith b. Asad al-Muhasibi may have played at the critical historical juncture for the development of Sufism by situating him in this critical milieu. It is noteworthy that the conceptualisations of “ascetics” and mystics” do not fit very comfortably with several figures of early Sufism.

Qatar is privileged to have massive natural gas reserves compared to a small population. This massive wealth in gas reserves coupled with the fact that Qatar has a small population, has led Qatar to be ranked among the countries with the highest per capita income in the world. However, continuing reliance on the hydrocarbon revenues will expose the nation to several risks, including overdependence and volatile energy prices, in addition to the “peak oil” risks.

The Technological Impact in Finance: A Bibliometric Study of Fintech Research

This paper is a review of research work done in FinTech that included technological innovation in finance in area such as the credit market (including Peer-2-Peer lending), insurance with a blockchain-assisted smart contract and payment systems (including cryptocurrencies). The paper provides a bibliometric review of FinTech in finance based on the published articles and journals in the Scopus database relating to 1,717 publications available between 1960 and 2021 onward.
